There is no quiet way to release a 2K ratings list. The moment the numbers land, fans start arguing about who got respect, who got short-changed, and which names are living off reputation. This year's NBA 2K27 Top 100 does exactly that. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nikola Jokic, and Victor Wembanyama sit on 97 OVR, with Luka Doncic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Jalen Brunson just behind them. Those are huge numbers, but MyTEAM players know a rating is only part of the story. When you're planning a squad or deciding where to put your NBA 2K27 MT, the card's movement, release, defensive reach, and position often matter more than one extra OVR point. Still, the list gives us a useful early snapshot of how the game sees the league.

The 81 to 85 Range Has Some Odd Calls

The lower end of the Top 100 is where the strange decisions begin. Walker Kessler at 81 makes some sense because health has been part of the conversation around him. If he stays on the court and gets easy looks beside Luka, he could move up quickly. Tobias Harris at the same mark feels a little light, though. He is not a player who needs the ball every trip, and that has value. He can score, rebound, and fit into different lineups without making things messy. Alex Caruso also looks low at 81. Players who use him in-game will care less about his raw scoring and more about his ability to bother ball handlers, switch onto wings, and hit open shots. Ayo Dosunmu has a similar case after showing more in meaningful games. Dejounte Murray at 82 is tough to judge. Availability has hurt his standing, no question, but his ceiling when he is rolling looks better than that number.

Defence Is Not Always Showing Up on the Numbers

Jrue Holiday and Dillon Brooks are two names that make people question how much defensive impact is being rewarded. Holiday at 82 feels especially modest for a guard who can take difficult assignments, make smart rotations, and still space the floor. His box score may not jump off the screen every night, yet coaches and teammates know what he brings. An 84 would not have felt out of place. Brooks at 82 has his critics, but he has put together stronger offensive stretches while remaining a physical perimeter defender. Paul George at 82 is another surprise. He is not at his peak every night anymore, but he can still create a shot, defend multiple spots, and change a game when he finds a rhythm. Zach LaVine may also be a touch low. Being in Sacramento could mean less attention, but his ability to score from deep, off the dribble, or on the move has not disappeared.

The Middle Tier Creates the Loudest Arguments

Some ratings are easier to understand once recent form is taken into account. Ja Morant at 84 reflects a season where the finishing and jumper did not look quite like they used to. He is still one hot month away from making that number look silly. Rudy Gobert at 84 is more complicated. His value is obvious when opponents are forced to think twice before attacking the rim, although a single number cannot fully capture how matchups affect him. Ausar Thompson at 85 feels fair after his defensive work and energy in big games. Zion Williamson at 85 also lands in a believable spot because the talent is clear, while the missed time remains part of the equation.

Then there are the bigger talking points. Trae Young at 87 may be generous when his defensive issues and uneven shooting efficiency are considered. He is still one of the league's best creators, but an 85 might better match his all-around impact right now. LaMelo Ball at 86 has the opposite feel. His passing instincts, size, and ability to create something from nothing make an 87 or 88 easy to understand. James Harden at 87 will split opinion as well. The passing and shot creation are still there, but the number leans heavily on what he can do offensively. Paolo Banchero at 87 could be slightly low after his growth in high-pressure games. Austin Reaves at 88, meanwhile, may be a bit high after an uneven recent stretch. Jaylen Brown at 91 is probably the sharpest debate in this group. A player with his scoring power, physical defence, and recent big-game record has a real argument for 93 or 94.

Final Thoughts

The very top of the list is hard to argue with, even if the order will keep fans busy for months. SGA at 97 has a strong case after his MVP-level rise, while Jokic and Wembanyama bring completely different kinds of dominance. Luka at 96 remains a nightmare matchup, and Giannis belongs right in that group. Brunson at 96 may be the most divisive top-tier call, with some players seeing 95 as a more natural fit. Kawhi Leonard at 93 could climb if his health holds, while Durant, Curry, Cade Cunningham, and Anthony Edwards all have reasonable cases around their current marks. As the season moves on, real performances will shift the picture. For MyTEAM, it is smarter to watch the details, compare roles, and use cheap NBA 2K27 MT Coins with a clear lineup plan instead of chasing every famous name that appears.
