Among the biggest resources of Maple story M Mesos experience points comes from conquest conflicts, and the new full-scale battle struggles that see you slashing via a sizable set of Athenian or Spartan soldiers alongside CPU allies. Each area has a conquest meter, displayed on the map and base of the display, that may decrease as you kill enemy Advisors, steal/burn enemy supplies, and kill enemy soldiers. A few mainline missions are conquest battles, but most of them are discretionary, triggered by your own attention to detail when clearing out enemy bases and completing side missions. This frequently results in decreasing an enemy's grip on a region and after the meter moves down to exposed, two conquest conflicts will be available (they are indicated on your map).
One of those icons represents your defense, while the other suggests your crime. Even though a bit harder, you need to always decide to attack, since it nets you more experience points. In the early going, you can make roughly twice the experience points you want a standard assignment. You should always be mindful of lowering the conquest meter. When it's halfway depleted but your next story mission is in another place, it is wise to stick around and chip away in the meter before continuing.
Your gear levels matter, also. If you're level 25 but all your gear is level 20, you aren't going to be as prepared to take on par 25 enemies. Although your assault and mmogdp health increase with every level progress, it is always best to keep your equipment at or very close to your general level. 1 surefire way to get this done is to upgrade or purchase equipment at the blacksmith (if you haven't picked up any helpful equipment recently).
You can even prepare for the future at the blacksmith. Interestingly, the blacksmith often sells equipment at the same degree higher than your present level. While you can't equip gear that eclipses your current degree, that doesn't mean you should not purchase it. As soon as you level up, you will have new equipment to equip right away. It is a forward-thinking strategy that pays off, and one you can continue to utilize during the experience.
