2007年11月19日，丁大卫教授应邀赴上海参加来华考察的英国金融投资访华团的鸡尾酒会，并作“金融树演绎中国经济发展秘诀及未来走势”的报告。代表团成员来自英国及欧洲一些大的金融机构，其中包括如下金融机构： Landsbanki Capital Goods Research Landsbanki Equity Sales Landsbanki Corporate Finance Landsbanki Corporate Finance Baillie Gifford Insight Scottish Widows Investment Partnership Fidelity MPC Investors Robur Goldenway Capital International Limited 报告分四大部分：一、前言（Part One. Where Does China Go From Here？）报告受到与会者的热烈欢迎，并不得不多次延长时间。 代表们对中国经济迅速崛起表示惊叹，同时也对中国爆发金融危机的可能性深表关切和担忧，对此，丁大卫教授解释，尽管中国金融还很不完善，但尚无资格发生系统性金融危机，因此，对中国金融近期发生金融危机的担忧是多余的。恰恰相反，美国的金融看似完美，但实质上已是肆意泛滥，千疮百孔，将会引发全球金融危机，除美国外，欧洲金融也将严重受挫。 此前，美林、高盛、黑石等多家投资银行或金融机构曾多次聘请丁教授为他们提供顾问咨询、培训、投资分析、兼并收购、尽职调研等服务。
